Today's topic is the cyber attacks. The reference article is the bellow.
The cyber attack has been becoming the most serious problems in the world. I am presenting the short summary of this article and adding some my opinions.
Waikato District Health Board's IT system got a cyber attack and this was the biggest cyber attack in New Zealand history.
The system is managing information for people's health so it affected to lots of customers. For instance, the two New Zealand flights were canceled due to the hacking. A crew member could not be certificated a negative Covid-19 result in system.
Other, 88 scheduled operations at Waikato hospital were not able to go ahead as planned. Although it was difficult to deal with the circumstances along with originally operations and some were canceled, the hospital can not suspend all of them.
The DHB is warning the public not to call 111 if they do not need immediate or urgent help.
To get thorough this situation, DHB should need the public cooperation.
Our life extremely depends on IT system. We would not be way from the recent technology ever so the system security must be strictly handled. However, it is easier said than done and all countries are facing similar risks.
I am a Web Application Developer and have coded many times but I never had no-bugs in system at all even though I am seriously careful that any bugs will not occur. I am not a system security specialist so I can not define or declare the difficulties of developing 100% secure system. However, I might be able to understand how much the security engineers tried not to generate even one bug.
Not being attacked or hacked is doubtful, unfortunately. That is why, we better mull over how to deal with any system problems and keep the customers safe.
